Using AI to Understand and Manage Risk

Synopsis

For almost a decade now, IBM Research has been supporting risk management using an AI based and data driven, support tool: the Scenario Planning Advisor (SPA). SPA is designed to augment the domain expert to deal effectively with the plurality and complexity of available data, allowing the planner/risk manager to explore a number of prioritised alternate, plausible scenarios to provide greater resilience and to treat uncertainty effectively and with respect. It provides the support to reduce human bias and to help decision making under stress.

In this presentation, Prof Ivan Mareels and Dr Simon Wail take the audience through the SPA process, and how it may support risk management around specific missions.
